- Which operating systems does Fable support?
- Fable runs natively on macOS 13 (Ventura) or later (universal binary for Apple Silicon and Intel, signed and notarized) and Windows 10 or later (x64). An internet connection is required for AI editing and document sync.
- How does voice-instructed editing work?
- Press the record button and speak an editing instruction — for example, "make the opening more dramatic" or "cut the last paragraph." Fable transcribes your voice, sends the instruction to the AI editor, and streams targeted edits back into your document in real time.
- Is Fable free?
- The Starter plan is free. New accounts get $5 in editing credits, one project, full version history, and macOS and Windows support. The Pro plan is $20 per month, refills your credits every billing cycle, and adds unlimited projects and real-time collaboration. Need more credits? One-time top-up packs are always available and never expire. The project owner pays for AI usage in their projects — collaborators don’t need their own plan.
- Do I need an account to download?
- Fable is currently in private beta. Apply for access at fable.la/beta and sign in with your Google account once approved. Approved testers can download the app from this page.
- Is my writing private?
- Your editing instructions and document content are sent to the AI editor for processing. Documents sync via secure cloud storage for real-time collaboration. Fable does not use your content for model training.
